ST. LOUIS BLUES VS TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS

The St. Louis Blues travel to The Air Canada Center to take on The Maple Leafs. After winning the 1st 2 games of this 5 game road trip The Blues have dropped the last 2 and desperately needs a win to keep pace with the Predators for 1st place in the Central Divison. Thursday night The Blues had a 1 goal lead over Philadelphia entering the 3rd period but fell flat in the 3rd giving up 3 goals for a frustrating loss. The Blues are big, fast and extremely physical and their top 2 lines are as good as any in hockey. On the road trip The line of Backes, Steen and Oshie has played well but the 2nd line of Lehtara, Schwartz and Tarasenko have yet to really flex their muscles and need to play better. Goalie Brian Elliot is also playing very well on the trip despite the defense letting him down the last 2 games. The Toronto Maple Leafs are playing out the string AGAIN. They’ve lost 8 of 11 and 23 of their last 28 games. They return home after going 1-3 and giving up 14 goals on their 4 game road trip. Phil Kessel, the best player on this terrible team blew up on the media about “unfair treatment” of captain Dion Phaneuf and the rest of the team. If this team showed half that fight on the ice they might be a little more competitive.

Prediction: This game is very important to The Blues and they know it. Nashville is floundering and The Blues have a great opportunity to close the 4 point margin with 2 games in hand. They are 7-0-1 in their last 8 trips to The Air Canada Centre. Expect them to come out fighting hard an take an early lead on Toronto and cruise to victory. THE PICK: TAKE ST LOUIS -1.5 GOALS
