Boise St -13 O/U 51.5

Virginia 2017 Record: Straight Up: 2-1 ATS: 1-2 Total: 1-2

Boise St 2017 Record: Straight Up: 2-1 ATS: 1-2 Total: 1-2

The Virginia Cavaliers of the ACC travel to Boise to take on the Boise St Broncos of the Mountain West in the last non conference game for both teams before conference play. Virginia is off to the 2-1 start most expected beating two teams they were athletically superior to (William and Mary and Connecticut) and one it wasn’t (Indiana) What people weren’t expecting is how well senior QB Kurt Benkert has played. Benkert had an up and down junior season but was constantly let down by an awful offensive line as he was sacked over 30 times. So far this year his line has played better which has led to some very good numbers by thus far. Boise St on the other hand has relied on a dominant defense that has played fantastic for 11 of 12 quarters this season. They should be 3-0 but they blew a 21 point 4th quarter lead to Washington State a game they ultimately lost in OT.

For this RideTheHotHand Friday College Football Free Pick we are going after the spread. Boise St is a tough team to beat at home and it has nothing to do with that awful turf and everything to do with their defense. They usually play low scoring slugfests at home and choke the other team out. Unfortunately for them this will not be an easy win as Benkert and a trio of talented Virginia receivers will keep the Cavaliers close. Look for Virginia to cover. THE PICK: Virginia +13
