RideTheHotHand Saturday CFB Free Pick Wake Forest VS Appalachian St

Wake Forest -4.5 O/U 46

Wake Forest 2017 Record: Straight Up: 3-0 ATS: 3-0 Total: 2-1

Appalachian St 2017 Record: Straight Up: 2-1 ATS: 0-3 Total: 1-2

The Wake Forest Deamon Deacons travel to Boone North Carolina to take on the Appalachian St Mountaineers. Wake Forest playing in the tough Atlantic Division of the ACC was expected by many to finish in the middle of the pack and hope to get a minor bowl game. Four year starter at QB John Wolford is off to great start as expected throwing 6 touchdowns and 0 interceptions in wins vs Presbyterian, Boston College and Utah St. The running game has been great with over 600 yards and the defense has given up only 27 points in their three blowout wins. On the other side is Appalachian St, known by many as the FCS school who takes down big FBS schools. Well since 2014 they are an FBS school playing in The Sun Belt conference. After an 31-10 loss at Georgia the opening week, the Mountaineers blew out lowly Savannah St and beat Texas St by 7. Appalachian St is also led by a four year starting QB in Taylor lamb, to go with a good running and solid defense.

For this RideTheHotHand free pick we are going after the spread. This game should be fun for western North Carolina as Boone is only a 80 mile drive west for Wake Forest. The crowd should be hyped to beat the big school from the ACC and the game should be a low scoring close affair throughout the first half. We expect the Wake defense to suffocate Appalachian’s offense in the second half like Georgia did in week 1. The Deamon Deacons superior athletes on offense will figure out the Mountaineer defense and pull away for a 2 score win in the end. THE PICK: WAKE FOREST -4.5
