The Favorites

Michigan: The Wolverines had their first test of the season and passed with flying colors as they spanked Penn St. Michigan thoroughly embarrassed the Penn St defense, racking up 326 yards rushing on their way to a 49-10 win and covering easily as 16.5 point favorites. The total went over 56.5.

Stanford: Stanford easily has the best early season resume of anyone in the country. After beating Kansas St and USC at home in their first 2 games they went on the road for the first time this season traveling to UCLA. Down 13-9 with under 2 minutes left Stanford kept their playoff hopes alive, driving 70 yards in 1:41. The Cardinal won the game 22-13 covering as 3 point favorites. The total went UNDER 46.5.

Ole Miss: The Rebels had a rough start to the season losing to FSU and Bama. Giving 7 points to Georgia seemed like a reach for a 1-2 team but Vegas knew what they were talking about as Ole Miss throttled Georgia 45-15 covering those 7 points. The total went UNDER 61.5.

The Underdogs

Wisconsin: Not many people respected Wisconsin even after their opening day win against LSU. Well they are starting to turn some heads now. This defense is for real people and are going to shut down a lot of people this season. They dismantled Michigan St. Wisconsin forced 4 turnovers en route to a dominating 30-6 win, winning outright as 3.5 point dogs. The total went UNDER 42.5.

Auburn: Auburn put the final nail in the Les Miles coffin in one of the crazier finishes you’ll see. Up 18-13 with seconds ticking off the clock, Auburn appeared to give up a TD pass on the final play which would of given LSU a 19-18 win. Under review the snap came after the clock hit zero so the play didn’t count. Auburn won outright as 3.5 point dogs and the total went UNDER 46. LSU coach Les Miles was fired the next day.

Bad Beats

UCLA +3 at home vs Stanford: Man! Every year there is at least 1 college football bad beat that is just beyond horrific. Well we just got our first one. UCLA was up 4 with under 2 minutes left and Bruin backers were hoping for an outright win but at worst a push if Stanford scored the game winning score. Well when Stanford scored a touchdown with 20 seconds left Bruin backers were angry but at least they got their money back right? Wrong! UCLA QB Josh Rosen was sacked on the last play of the game and fumbled. The ball was scooped up and ran back for a TD with no time left, sending Stanford backers into a frenzy and Bruin backers breaking TV sets.

USC +3 at Utah: This bad beat wasn’t as sudden as the UCLA game but painful none the less. USC took a 27-17 lead in the 4th quarter. Well Utah scored 2 4th quarter touchdowns including the game winner with 16 seconds left that gave The Utes a 31-27 win and a heart breaking 1 points loss for Trojan bettors.

College Handicappers of The Week
