NFL Season Totals After Week 4
Current NFL Season Win Total Bets After four weeks we are starting...
AFC EAST
The New England Patriots and Tom Brady’s domination of the AFC East is entering it’s 18th year. The Patriots have won the division 15 out of the last 17 years and 9 straight years. A big reason why they have been able to win 5 Super Bowls during that time is the ineptitude of the other 3 teams that has allowed to not only win the division by securen bye’s and home field advantage during that streak. The Buffalo Bills
Buffalo Bills
2017 Preseason Win Total 6 2017 Record 9-7
2018 Win Total 6.5
Prediction – OVER 6.5
The Buffalo Bills finally ended their 17 year playoff drought with a Wild Card berth a year ago. The Wild Card game loss to the Jaguars 10-3 points was a big reason the Bills moved on from Tyrod Taylor and drafted Josh Allen. Look for new acquisition A.J. McCarron to win the starting job and keep it until the Bills are eliminated from playoff contention. LeSean Mccoy and Kelvin Benjamin will have to do a lot of heavy lifting for the Bills to score points but their defense will be among the best in the AFC which should get them to 7+ wins. Take The Over.
Miami Dolphins
2017 Preseason Win Total 7.5 2017 Record 6-10
2018 Win Total 6.5
Prediction – UNDER 6.5
The Miami Dolphins are once again putting all their hopes on Ryan Tannehill who missed all of 2017 with a knee injury. Tannehill is going to have to do something special for the Dolphins to eclipse this win total as is he will lack quality at the skill positions. The Dolphins will start Kenyon Drake at running back and a receiving corps of Albert Wilson, Danny Amendola and Kenny Stills that will scare no one. The Defensive line will be dominant but it won’t make up for their lack of speed and skill in the back seven. Look for the Dolphins to finish last in the AFC East and go UNDER 6.5.
New England Patriots
2017 Preseason Win Total 12.5 2017 Record 13-3
2018 Win Total 11
Prediction – OVER 11
The New England Patriots will win this division again as long as Tom Brady does not get hurt. Tom Brady showed last season he still one of the best and he will certainly have another season. His receiving corps of Gronk, Hogan, Cordarrelle Patterson and Phillip Dorsett will hold the fort down until Brady’s favorite target Edelman returns in week 5 from suspension. The Patriots drafted a running back we like a lot in Sony Michel. His blend of speed and powers will do wonders for the Patriots. The defense will be what it always is, shaky in the first and stronger as the season goes. Look for another 12-13 win season from the Pats. Take The Over.
New York Jets
2017 Preseason Win Total 4.5 2017 Record 5-11n
2018 Win Total 6
Prediction – Over 6
This was a tough one as that 6 win total looks just about right. The Jets were predicted by many to not win a game last season but that was never going happen with the youth and speed on defense. The defense showed flashes last season led by the rookie safety tandem of Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye. The corners let the young duo down but the Jets fixed that problem by signing top free agent corner Trumaine Johnson. Johnson will move corner Morris Claiborne off the others team top receiver and the secondary will be the teams’ strength this season. Josh McCown or Teddy Bridgewater will start over rookie Sam Darnold and be a serviceable QB with some surprising weapons at the skill positions. Look For coach Todd Bowles to squeeze 7 wins out of this team and a 3rd place finish. Take The Over.
AFC NORTH
Baltimore Ravens
2017 Preseason Win Total 8 2017 Record 9-7
2018 Win Total 8
Prediction – Under 8
When the Ravens drafted Lamar Jackson they officially put Joe Flacco on the clock. It’s almost like they want him to fail and get out from under his contract next offseason when the penalties for doing so are more manageable. The Ravens didn’t go out and get any real weapons for Flacco as they replaced their mediocre receiving corps from last year with another mediocre one with Michael Crabtree, John Brown and Willie Snead. The running back is again Alex Collins who was average last year and won’t improve much with a weak line. The Defense was the strength of last years team and will be once again. They will again be a top 10 defense but will fail to reach the 39 takeaways they had last year. Take The UNDER.
Cincinnati Bengals
2017 Preseason Win Total 8.5 2017 Record 7-9
2018 Win Total 6.5
Prediction – Over 6.5
The Cincinnati Bengals are once again led by coach Marvin Lewis and QB Andy Dalton. Dalton and star receiver AJ Green had down years in ’17 but look for them to come back strong with Pro Bowl tight end Tyler Eifert returning to the lineup and talented 2nd year running back Joe Mixon taking over the full time running back duties. The defense was in the middle of the pack a season ago but bringing back almost their entire starting unit will help tremendously. Look for them to jump up to second place in the division as the Ravens drop. Take The OVER.
Cleveland Browns
2017 Preseason Win Total 5 2017 Record 0-16
2018 Win Total 5.5
Prediction – Under 5.5
The fact the books gave a team who is 1-31 in the last 2 seasons o/u 5.5 wins on the season shows the kind of excitement the Browns generated in the offseason. The Browns will make a big jump this season but a big jump for a winless team is 5 wins. Whoever wins the QB job between Tyrod Taylor and Baker Mayfield will have some weapons at their disposal with Jarvis Landry and Josh Gordon. The backfield has some talent as well with Nick Chubb looking to start with Carlos Hyde and Duke Johnson being reliable backs as well. The problem with the Browns will again be the offensive line and defense. Until they get those fixed they won’t be serious playoff contenders. Take The UNDER.
Pittsburgh Steelers
2017 Preseason Win Total 10.5 2017 Record 13-3
2018 Win Total 10.5
Prediction – Under 10.5
We were on the fence with this one as the Steelers are a very talented team obviously as they have key players from last year’s 13-3 squad. But we think the division as a whole is going to struggle playing the AFC West and NFC South this season. Along with playing the Chiefs, Raiders, Chargers, Falcons, Saints, and Panthers the Steelers also have the first place schedule that will pit them against the Patriots and the Jaguars. That’s a tough 8 games to play outside of the division. We’re not sold on JuJu Smith Schuster being a star yet as a second-year receiver opposite Antonio Brown. Le’Veon Bell is getting more and more frustrated with the team, Roethlisberger is getting older and more banged up and they redid their entire secondary. This team will not be as good as last year and we’re putting them at 10-6. Take The UNDER.
AFC SOUTH
Houston Texans
2017 Preseason Win Total 8.5 2017 Record 4-12
2018 Win Total 8.5
Prediction – UNDER 8.5
The Houston Texans are excited about this season and getting Dashuan Watson and JJ Watt back should be exciting. We’re not sold that they are going to immediately ascend back to the top of the AFC South standings. Watson was electric in his 6 games in ’17 but that’s all it was 6 games. The rest of the league will have those 6 games of game tape to find a way to slow him down and outside of Deandre Hopkins there isn’t a whole lot of weapons that scare people. The Texans front seven will be very good again but their secondary is a question mark. We’re giving Houston 8 wins in an increasingly tougher division.
Indianapolis Colts
2017 Preseason Win Total 9 2017 Record 4-12
2018 Win Total 6.5
Prediction – Under 6.5
Even if Andrew Luck is healthy for all 16 games (which is looking unlikely) New head coach Frank Reich is going to need a year or two to complete the turnover of this roster. The offensive line has been awful the last few years and the Colts are plugging in new players this year. Running back Marlon Mack is stepping in as the starter and has much to prove and outside of T.Y. Hilton and Jack Doyle the receiving corps doesn’t scare anyone. The Colts let some veterans leave on defense in an effort to get younger and faster but that is a work in progress as well. Take The Under.
Jacksonville Jaguars
2017 Preseason Win Total 6.5 2017 Record 10-6
2018 Win Total 9
Prediction – OVER 9
The Jacksonville Jaguars believe they should have been in the Super Bowl last year and after watching them against Pittsburgh and New England in the playoff many agree with them. The offensive line returns 4 starters and adds the best free agent lineman available in All-Pro left guard Andrew Norwell. This line is going to be very good which is good news for Blake Bortles and Leonard Fournette. There are some new faces in the receiver corps but the line and the running game should help them as well. The defense was hands down the best defense in the NFL last year and will be again this season. Take The OVER.
Tennessee Titans
2017 Preseason Win Total 8.5 2017 Record 9-7
2018 Win Total 8
Prediction – Over 8
The Tennessee Titans would not be as confident in Marcus Mariota this season if they didn’t get that lucky playoff berth. Mariota was outstanding in his two playoff games and that has made the outlook on this season look much differently. We love Derrick Henry and are exciting to see what he does this season as the full time back running behind one of the best offensive lines in football. The Titans have shored up their defense through the draft and free agency and should be very good. Take The Over.
AFC WEST
Denver Broncos
2017 Preseason Win Total 8.5 2017 Record 5-11
2018 Win Total 7
Prediction – UNDER 7
The Denver Broncos have a new quarterback in Case Keenum but that isn’t going to help them get out of the AFC West basement. Keenum proved that he can be a starter in this league but he needs a well-built team around him and the Broncos are not the same team they were when they won the Super Bowl. They still have 2 good receivers but their offensive line and running game are huge question marks. On defense, they still have some talent but they parted ways with some of the veterans from that SB win and are now trying to get younger. Take The Under.
Kansas City Chiefs
2017 Preseason Win Total 9 2017 Record 10-6
2018 Win Total 8.5
Prediction – Over 8.5
This season is all about how fast can Andy Reid get Patrick Mahomes up to speed. The Chiefs have some of the best and fastest skill players in the league with Kareem Hunt, Tyreek Hill, Sammy Watkins and Travis Kelce which made a switch to Mahomes the more logical choice. Reid is one of the better coaches in the NFL and always gets everything out of his quarterbacks so we think he’s going to do wonders with the second year QB and the Chiefs should come out of the gate flying. The defense is going to have some growing pains early with the turnover in starters but Kansas City always seems to be a very opportunistic defense and with their defensive captain Eric Berry returning this unit should be fine. Take The Over.
Los Angeles Chargers
2017 Preseason Win Total 7.5 2017 Record 9-7
2018 Win Total 9.5
Prediction Under 9.5
The Chargers are picked by many to win the division this season and despite having the best quarterback in the division we haven’t seen enough to get us that excited. Outside of Keenan Allen, the receiver corps has holes in it and the offensive line and the running game are both still big question marks. How fast they can get the new additions to the offensive line to gel and if they can get Melvin Gordon to finally live up to his potential will be key. The defense is going to be very fast and very scary for opponents this season as they continue to get younger and faster. Look for the secondary to play exceptional and the defense to keep them in a lot of games. In the end, we just don’t see enough weapons on offense which forces Rivers to take more chances and turn the ball over. Take The Under.
Oakland Raiders
2017 Preseason Win Total 10 2017 Record 6-10
2018 Win Total 8
Prediction – Over 8
Coach John Gruden is back and many people don’t have as much faith in him or this team as we do. The Raiders looked like Super Bowl contenders two years ago before QB Derek Carr broke his leg and now a season removed from that we think he’s going to have a great season. The Raiders offensive line is still among the leagues best units and Marshawn Lynch still has some tread left on those tires. We like the receiver corps of Amari Cooper, Jordy Nelson, and Martavis Bryant a lot. The latter two will have a chip on their shoulders and open up the defense for Cooper to shine. The Raiders defense has a few holes but we think the offense can keep them afloat the first half of the year until they get up to speed. Take The Over.
