The Favorites

Louisville: WOW! When was the last time Florida St was embarrassed like this? Louisville showed they aren’t just a threat to make the playoff but this team could win the whole thing. Led by QB Lamar Jackson’s 362 combined yards and 5 touchdowns, Louisville scored 35 first half points and never looked back. They CRUSHED FSU 63-20, easily covering as 2 point favorites. The total sailed OVER the posted total of 65.

Ohio St: Oklahoma backup QB Austin Kendall called Ohio State’s defense “basic” during the week and Baker Mayfield would carve them up. OOPS! Mayfield and OU never stood a chance as Ohio State scored 35 1st half points and easily won 45-24, covering as 2 point favorites. The total went OVER 59.

Stanford: The Cardinal had their first test of the season against USC and passed with flying colors. Heisman trophy hopeful Christian McCaffrey rushed for 165 yards, scoring a touchdown rushing and receiving to lead Stanford to a 27-10 win and improving to 2-0 straight up and 2-0 ATS. The total went UNDER for the 2nd straight Stanford game.

The Underdogs

California: Cal hosted Texas on Saturday as 7.5 point dogs. The 1st half was an absolute shootout with neither defense able to stop the other team. Cal QB Davis Webb threw for 400 yards and 4 touchdowns as Cal brought The Longhorns back down to Earth winning 50-43 and covering as 7.5 point dogs. The outrageous total of 80.5 points didn’t stand as chance as the teams combined for 93 points.

Notre Dame: Oh well Golden Domer fans. Notre Dame fans thought their opening day loss to Texas was a fluke. The Spartans proved The Irish are not a playoff team. Michigan St smacked Notre Dame in the face early and held on despite a furious comeback to win 36-28 and covering as 7.5 point dogs. The game went OVER the 50 point total.

North Dakota State: If you were surprised FCS school North Dakota St went to Iowa and knocked off the 13th ranked Hawkeyes then you haven’t been paying attention. The Bison have won the last 5 FCS national championships and knocked off the last five FBS power 5 conference schools they’ve played. The Bison played smash mouth football, rushing for 239 yards and scored a defensive TD to beat Iowa 23-21, winning outright as 14.5 point dogs. Why FBS conferences aren’t trying to recruit this team to move up we have no idea.

Bad Beats

Alabama -10.5 vs Ole Miss: This bad beat probably affected the most people as Alabama is one of the most highly bet teams college or pro. When Bama took a 48-30 lead with 5:28 left in the 4th quarter Alabama backers everywhere were rejoicing. It took just over 2 minutes for Ole Miss to score a TD and cut the lead to 11. Bama backers were still in the money, just get the onside kick and it’s over. Well not only did Alabama misplay the onside kick but Ole Miss threw a TD pass on the very next play that sent all the money Ole Miss’ way and made Bama backers lose their lunch.

Clemson -53.5 vs South Carolina St: This is one of the weirder bad beats you’ll ever see. Clemson predictably raced out to a 31-0 first quarter lead and extended it to 45-0 at halftime. Then the refs did something that would make South Carolina St backers rejoice and Clemson Bettors to lose their shit. The referee, sensing this game was going to get a whole lot worse asked both coaches if they would be opposed to shortening the second half by 6 minutes and playing 12 minute quarters. They said yes. Once that happened the game became “no bet” and everyone got their money back even though Clemson still covered the spread despite the shorter half.
