The Miami Dolphins are one of the hottest teams in football, winners of 6 straight games to go from a 1-4 team on life support to 7-4 and the current number 6 seed in the playoff picture. This team is as hot as anyone in the league and every week seem to be getting better. If you watch Dolphins highlights (because we know none of you are watching live) and you will see Jay Ajayi with an explosive run or Jarvis Landry, Kenny Stills, or DeVante Parker streaking down the sidelines with the football in their hands. With QB Ryan Tannehill playing some of the best football in his career this offense is balanced and able to put up some points. Since a victory against the Steelers at home on Oct 16th the Dolphins have been averaging 27 points a game and it would be higher if the Rams didn’t stifle them for 3 quarters two weeks ago in Los Angeles. The Ravens on the other hand have won 3 of their last 4 to climb atop their division and have done it the opposite way of the Dolphins. They’ve done it with a great defense and an offense that has done just enough to beat a depleted Bengals team, a winless Browns team and a Steelers team that no one understands.

Are these teams good or are they two average teams playing in an average conference? Well the answer is a little of both. This game is huge for both teams but more so for the Dolphins. The Ravens could lose this game and still win the putrid AFC North. The Dolphins on the other hand have Denver tied with them at 7-4 and 3 other 6-5 teams waiting for them to slip up in the Wild Card race. When picking this game the matchup to look at isn’t necessarily the Dolphins offense vs the Ravens defense. It’s can the Ravens offense do anything against the Dolphins defense and that very good defensive line. The answer to that will be a resounding NO. This Ravens offense is putrid and if they didn’t have arguably the best kicker in the NFL they wouldn’t even be in this position. Scoring between 16-20 points will not win you a lot of games in this league and it won’t against the Dolphins. The Dolphins defense will shut down what little running game the Ravens have and Flacco will have nowhere to go. Miami’s balanced offense will give the Ravens trouble like the Cowboys offense did 2 weeks when it carved them up for 417 yards and 27 first downs.
