The Detroit Lions travel to Dallas to take on the Cowboys in a very important game for both teams especially if The Giants beat the Eagles on TNF like we expect they will. If the Cowboys win they will lock up the NFC East and home field advantage. If they lose they could be looking at a week 17 must win because because a 12-4 tie with the Giants makes the Cowboys the 5 seed and the Giants the 1. The Lions on the other hand need this game to either lock up the NFC North (If Green Bay losses) Or stay one game ahead if they win.

The Lions are a tricky team to read. They are 9-5 but every week that passes their wins look more and more weak. During their 5 game winning streak that was snapped last week they beat the Vikings twice, the Jags, Saints and Bears. They’ve only outscored their opponents by 16 points all season. If you are looking for the reason they are 9-5, look no further than their defense which has been way better than anyone could of expected and has held 10 opponents to 20 points or less on the season. We all know about the Cowboys offensive line, Dak Prescott and Zeke Elliot because the Cowboys have been jammed down our throats all season. When you’re 12-2 and “America’s Team” that’s to be expected. But by watching them so much this season we also know they aren’t as good as their record. The Giants defense showed their offense is underwhelming if you have the bodies up front to go toe to toe with that offensive line.

So where are we going with all this? Well we are going after that total of course. This game is going to be low scoring. Like we said earlier, the Lions defense has been awesome this season against the run, not so much against the pass. The Cowboys won’t care that the best way to attack Detroit might be through the air. They are going to run the ball all game, try to wear the defense down and limit Dak’s mistakes. The Lions have the defense to hold the Cowboys to under 24 points and we think they will. An added bonus is the Lions offense is not exactly a juggernaut this season. They have gone UNDER in their last 8 games and Dallas and Detroit have combined to go UNDER in 19 out of 28 games. With this game being so important to both teams expect the game plans will be conservative and the UNDER will cash. The Bet: UNDER 44.5
