The NFL season kicked off its season in Denver and the question on most people’s minds was, what game was ref Gene Steratore watching. The Broncos defense were literally teeing off on Cam Newton’s head and got more ballsy when they realized Steratore wasn’t going to call them on it. The result was a woozy Cam not remebereing the end of the game and a Bronco straight up win and cover as 3 point dogs.

Sunday 1pm

The Minnesota Defense is No Joke: When Teddy Bridgewater almost lost a leg in a non contact injury in practice, many people said their season was over. Backup QB Shaun Hill was awfull and the Vikings reminded everyone this team can win no matter who plays QB. The D harassed Marcus Mariotta all day and got a pair of 2nd half defensive touchdowns on their way to a 25-16 win and cover as 3 point road favorites. Expect Sam Bradford to start as early as this week.

Del Rio Gambles, Raider Nation Rejoices: What a game they played in New Orleans between the Saints and Raiders. In a matchup that saw late money on New Orleans push the line to Saints -3 the game was an offensive fireworks show. The teams combined for almost 1,000 yards in total offense and went back in forth on the scoreboard. Down by 7, the Raiders’ Seth Roberts scored a TD to cut it 1 with under a minute left. Coach Jack Del Rio decided he wanted no part of Drew Brees (423 yards 4 TD’s) in overtime so went for 2. A completion to Crabtree followed and a 1 point SU win as 3 point dogs for Oakland was the result.

The Rook Can Play After All:

Sunday 4pm

GET OUT OF BOUNDS!!!!!!!!!!!: Terrence Williams forgetting to stop the clock on a late reception that ended any chance of Dallas kicking a late field goal for the win was pretty funny for people who aren’t Dallas fans and didn’t bet on them. Even though the closing line of Giants -1 ended in a push, the many people who took Dallas as pickem or even favorites weren’t laughing.

Shootout In Indy: Vegas said it would be a shootout and it was. With a total of 51 that didn’t stand a chance, the Colts and Lions played another game that finished with over 900 yards of offense and a tired scoreboard operator. The Lions were in control early, gave it away late, only to win it in the end. The Colts scored what looked like a winning TD with 37 seconds left. The Lions already had the 2.5 point spread covered but decided to get the outright win. They took only 33 seconds to go 50 yards for the winning FG and what ended up (after a Colts safety) a 39-35 outright win.

Sunday Night

Patriots Win as Huge Dogs: Yup, the more things change the more they stay the same. With Brady and Gronk out, the public put so much money on The Cardinals at home that the line closed at Cards -9. It didn’t matter, the Pats do what they always do.. Win. Thanks to a good game by first time starter Jimmy Garoppolo and a last second shanked FG by Cardinals kicker Chandler Catanzaro as time expired, the Pats found a way to get the 23-21 outright win and cover.

Monday Night

Antonio Brown….. ALL DAY: ESPN debuted their Antonio Brown commercial at the right time and man was it spot on. The Redskins decided to leave All Pro corner Josh Norman on the right side of the field. Ben Roethlisberger just calmly sent Brown over to the left and he abused corner Bashaud Breeland all night. Brown grabbed 8 receptions and 2 touchdowns as Pittsburgh showed they are Super Bowl contenders, winning 38-16 and covering easily as 2.5 point favorites.

Bad Beats

Minnesota Vikings vs Tennessee Titans Under 40: The lowest total of the day was 40 in the Vikes/Titans game. Even with the low total the majority of the money came in on the under. It looked very safe all day, then the Vikings defense started scoring touchdowns and under bettors were uneasy. When Blair Walsh kicked a FG with 2 minutes left the score was 25-10 and the game was more than decided. That didn’t stop Marcus Mariota from driving the Titans 74 yards in 2 minutes aided by a roughing the passer penalty. When Demarco Murray scored easily on a 4 yard pass (for the definition of a meaningless touchdown) with 20 seconds left UNDER bettors couldn’t believe it.

Handicappers Of The Week

Tony George: We at RTHH have been waiting for Tony George to breakout and it appears he has. A 6-0 record in week 1 of football will do that. We will definitely be keeping an eye on him to see where this takes him.

Michael Alexander: Not to be outdone by Tony George, Michael Alexander picked 5 games and won 5 games. Alexander has hit on 59 percent of his football picks since November 2015.

Teddy Covers: Week 1 of the NFL season was ruled by the underdogs. It’s good thing Teddy picked 3 of them. Teddy went 4-0 on the week scoring victories on Pats, Lions and Jets to go along with his OVER on the Chiefs and Chargers.
