NHL Futures and Best Handicappers

With less than 2 weeks to go in the NHL regular season the only thing for certain in The NHL playoff race and the race for the Best NHL Handicapper is the Washington Capitals have clinched the Presidents trophy for having the best regular season record. All that means is they probably won’t win the Stanley Cup. Since 2002 only 2 teams have won the Presidents Trophy and went on to win the Stanley Cup and that was the 2008 Detroit Red Wings and the 2013 Chicago Blackhawks. In fact in that time only 3 winners have even made it to the Finals, the Vancouver Canucks lost to Boston in 2011. In the Eastern Conference The NY Islanders, Boston, Philadelphia and Detroit are all 3 points apart for the final playoff spot and one of those teams will be left out. There’s a battle going on in the Western Conference for the #1 seed with Dallas and St Louis. Minnesota has a 3 point lead on Colorado for the 8 seed essentially the only team that can catch them. Let’s look at the futures as of 3/29 to win the East, West and The Stanley Cup. Click here for up to date odds.
