NCAAB 3/3 Northwestern vs Penn St Free Pick

Northwestern Wildcats (131) at Penn St Nittany Lions (PK)

The Northwestern Wildcats travel to Happy Valley to take on the Penn St Nittany Lions. Northwestern started the season 13-1 thanks to a cupcake schedule that saw their only loss coming against North Carolina. Once Big Ten play started it was back to reality, as they have gone 6-10 since. In their last 5 games they are 2-3 straight up and against the spread, their 2 wins coming against Big Ten doormats Illinois and a 39 point win their last game out against Rutgers. Penn St is also 6-10 in Big Ten play, but unlike Northwestern they actually played some pretty good mid majors in non conference and lost some of those games, which is why they hovering a little over .500. The Nittany Lions are 3-2 straight up and 2-3 aATS in their last 5. They were shellacked their last time out by Michigan St by 31.

On January 16 Penn St went to Northwestern and beat the Wildcats 71-62. The Wildcats who rely heavily on 3 point shots dropping, shot an abysmal 3-26 from 3 and only 39 percent for the game. They need their 3 headed monster of of guards Tre Demps/Bryant McIntosh and 7 foot center Alex Olah to play better in this game if they want to keep their very slim NCAA tournament hopes alive. If they can get the pick and roll going and get some open 3’s they should avenge that early defeat. Penn St on the other hand relies heavily on senior forward Brandon Taylor. As he goes they go. During their 3 game win streak against Iowa, Rutgers and Nebraska he played great, led the team in scoring and they won. Against Michigan St he got in early foul trouble, scored 2 points and they got blown out. The Wildcats have a ton to play for but they are AWFUL on the road. They’ve lost their last 6 on the road, with their last win coming January 6th at Minnesota. Penn St plays great home, beating the likes of Big Ten champs Indiana and a very good Iowa team in Happy Valley. Their only losses at home since November have been to Wisconsin and Michigan St. Northwestern will again have trouble shooting from 3 as Penn St plays very good defense and doesn’t leave shooters open. Even though they have one more home game after this, they made this their senior night. The crowd will be Incredible and lift Brandon Taylor and the rest of the team to a win. The Pick… Penn St Pick em
