Alabama VS Texas Free College Football Handicapper Pick

l

Saturday CFB Free play. My selection is on the ‘under’ between Alabama and Texas at 12 noon et on Saturday.

Both of these teams lived up to expectations in Week 1 with Alabama rolling to a 55-0 win over Utah State and Texas dismantling Louisiana-Monroe by a 52-10 score. Here, I’m anticipating a lower-scoring affair, relatively speaking. Posting a shutout against a team the caliber of Utah State was no small feat. Alabama allowed just 79 rushing yards and 57 yards through the air in that contest, requiring little in the way of heavy-lifting as the Aggies managed only seven first downs in the entire game. While the Crimson Tide will obviously be facing a tougher challenge here, I’m confident they’ll be up for it. Texas’ offense actually didn’t reach the end zone until the final two minutes of the first quarter against Louisiana-Monroe (it scored a punt return touchdown in the game’s first two minutes). The Longhorns were also buoyed by an interception return for a touchdown in that eventual rout. I was impressed by the fact that Texas didn’t give up a touchdown until the game’s final four minutes – when the game had long been decided (it led 52-3 at the time). Even against an opponent like ULM, that’s no easy accomplishment, especially in Week 1. It seems as though Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian is already willing to concede the result here, suggesting that the outcome of this contest won’t impact his team’s season-long goals. Regardless, I believe the Longhorns can lean on their defense to keep things respectable and ultimately help this one stay ‘under’ the inflated total. Take the under.
